2009 Tour Cancelled

Please see the following from BNL President Kevin Baldwin:

"Organizers of the Tour de Shore are very disappointed to announce the cancellation of the 2009 race: there is simply not enough interest to proceed. Registration fees will be returned, to the handful of cyclists who had looked forward to racing next weekend, as soon as possible.

Race organizers would like to sincerely thank their corporate partners (Hatch Ltd., G.J. Cahill and White Ottenheimer & Baker) who agreed, even in this uncertain economic environment, to provide financial support. Organizers would also like to thank the many volunteers who had offered to give very generously of their time, and would like to acknowledge the following for their participation / contribution: Atlantic Chip Online; the City of St. John's; Royal Newfoundland Constabulary; Southern Shore Folks Arts Council (Ferryland); and the Portugal Cove South Visitors' Centre.

The future of the Tour de Shore remains uncertain at this point. Perhaps the race will be moved to another weekend, or replaced by something closer to St. John's. Suggestions from the cycling community would be welcomed."

The Tour de Shore is a 2-day road bike stage race along the scenic Southern Shore of Newfoundland & Labrador's Avalon Peninsula.

The route, running from Riverhead, St. Mary’s Bay to Goulds, features cycling races for families and recreational riders, amateur solo or corporate team riders, and competitive racers.
